Alter Bridge has released a new song called “Show Me A Leader,” the first single from the band’s upcoming fifth album, The Last Hero. The song was released digitally on Tuesday (July 26th), while the new disc will be available on October 7th. Alter Bridge singer Myles Kennedy said about the track, “‘Show Me A Leader’ is a reflection of how polarized and fractured things are in our society. This song doesn’t push an agenda; it simply expresses a very common sense of disillusionment people seem to be feeling at this point in time.”

We asked Kennedy a while back if writing such dark lyrical material was a form of therapy: [“Oh absolutely. In fact, it saves you so much money in therapy costs, you know (laughter). It’s like, you can go to a counselor or you can just write a song and purge all your problems.”] SOUNDCUE (:10 OC: . . . all your problems.)

  • The Last Hero follows up Alter Bridge’s 2013 album, Fortress, which featured the Top 15 single “Addicted To Pain.”
  • Alter Bridge is currently on the road through late August as special guests of Disturbed and Breaking Benjamin. The tour stops on Tuesday night in Clarkston, Michigan.
