Alter Bridge has set The Last Hero as the title of the band’s fifth studio album, which is due out in October. The band again worked with producer Michael “Elvis” Baskette, who was behind the board for the group’s previous three efforts, 2007’s Blackbird, 2010’s ABIII and 2013’s Fortress. A listening party for The Last Hero was held Wednesday night (July 6th) in the band’s home city of Orlando, Florida and included a live performance from the group.
Lead singer Myles Kennedy told us a while back how Alter Bridge comes up with new music: [“The way we tend to write, it’s very part-oriented. Mark and I will basically stockpile musical ideas and melodic ideas. And then it’s kind of like putting a puzzle together. So we get together with Brian and Scott and we get everything to gel together in the context of the arrangements.”] SOUNDCUE (:16 OC: . . . of the arrangements.)
- Regarding the sound of the new album, guitarist Mark Tremonti told Team Rock earlier in the year, “It could go in any direction. I’ve got a ton of ideas in all different styles. Last time, it was just one heavy idea after another and hopefully this time we can branch out and bring something new to the table.”
- The band’s last effort, Fortress, featured the Active Rock Top 15 single “Addicted To Pain.”
- Kennedy also fronts Slash‘s solo band, Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators, who have time off this year while Slash is touring with Guns N’ Roses. Mark Tremonti released the third effort from his band Tremonti, titled Dust, in April.
- Alter Bridge will tour Europe this fall with Volbeat, Gojira and Like A Storm, but the band has yet to confirm any North American shows.
