Gorillaz will release their first album in six years, titled Humanz, on April 28th, according to multiple reports. The co-creator and musical mastermind of the cartoon band, Damon Albarn, premiered two songs from the disc on BBC Radio One on Thursday (March 23rd), titled “Andromeda” and “Saturn Barz.” A video for the latter song was also unveiled, directed by Gorillaz co-creator Jamie Hewlett and featuring the band members exploring a haunted house.
- Humanz contains 14 tracks and is the first new effort from Gorillaz since 2010’s The Fall.
- Guests on the disc include Mavis Staples, Grace Jones, Pusha T, Danny Brown, Kelela, De La Soul and even Carly Simon, although Rag ‘N’ Bone Man does not appear to be on the record as previously reported.
- Gorillaz will also play their first live show since 2010 as headliners at their own festival, called Demon Dayz. The inaugural event will take place in Margate, England on June 10th, at an amusement park known as Dreamland. The full lineup of acts has yet to be unveiled.
- Numerous reports stated that a secret Gorillaz show, featuring a full performance of the new album, was happening on Friday (March 24th) in London.
