Green Day is known for performing different music under different names, and one of the band’s alter egos is popping up for a show early next month.
Known as the Coverups, the act consists of Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong and bassist Mike Dirnt, along with Green Day touring guitarist Jason White, tour manager Bill Schneider and audio engineer Chris Dugan.
The outfit debuted with a secret show in January 2018 in Albany, California, and will return with a show on December 6th at the Tiki Bar in Costa Mesa, California. Joining them will be the Interrupters, One Less Zero, Dead Mermaids and Dead Sound.
Green Day drummer Tré Cool commented online, “Holy shit! I can’t wait!”, perhaps hinting that he might make his possible first appearance behind the kit for the Coverups.
The last Coverups gig was at Oakland, California’s annual 40th Street Block Party in July. They performed covers from classic punk and rock bands including the Misfits, Ramones, the Clash, Nirvana, David Bowie and more.
Meanwhile, Green Day will release its 13th studio album, Father Of All Motherf**kers, on February 7th, 2020. Two singles have already been issued and the band will hit the road next summer on a massive stadium tour with Fall Out Boy and Weezer.
