Guns N’ Roses kicked off its “Not In This Lifetime” North American stadium tour on Thursday night (June 23rd) at Ford Field in Detroit, where 41,000 fans came to see original members Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan plus four side musicians play a two-hour-and-35-minute show that started just before 9:45 p.m. Rose was no longer confined to the chair he had been using onstage ever since breaking his foot during a surprise Guns club show in April 1st in Los Angeles that marked the official launch of the band’s semi-reunion.

  • Rose did, however, wear six different T-shirts throughout the course of the evening and was even spotted leaning on the shoulder of former enemy Slash during the group’s cover of Bob Dylan‘s “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door.”
  • The show was the band’s first since an initial spate of seven gigs in April, which included two concerts apiece in Las Vegas, at California’s Coachella Festival and in Mexico City in addition to the Los Angeles club show.
  • Rose just finished a stint as lead vocalist for AC/DC on that band’s European festival run, and is slated to play at least 10 North American shows with that group right after Guns complete their stadium trek in late August.
  • Guns N’ Roses next plays on Wednesday night (June 29th) in Kansas City, Missouri.
