When Hellyeah drummer Vinnie Paul died suddenly in June of last year, he had already recorded several tracks for the next album. Frontman Chad Gray says the band would not have considered releasing new music without Vinnie on it.

In the interview posted on Loudwire.com, Gray talked about what it was like for the band to go into the studio and finish the record and said, “We were listening to his drumming and the drums actually being played after he was gone. It was a really cathartic thing for all of us I believe.”

Gray felt Vinnie was with them through the whole process and said, “Vinnie was truly my muse to finish this. It was his spirit that inspired me.”

The new album from Hellyeah is called Welcome Home and the band will go on tour in mid-November to support it.
