Highly Suspect hit Number One on the rock radio chart for the first time this past week with “My Name Is Human,” from the band’s newly released sophomore album The Boy Who Died Wolf. Drummer Ryan Meyer told us about the song and his response the first time he heard frontman Johnny Stevens sing it: [“The first time I heard Johnny sing the vocals that he had written for it, I got goosebumps. It’s about leveling with people and telling people to face the reality that we’re just people. And, you know, face who you are, face who you are as a person, I think is what he was getting into.”]
- The Boy Who Died Wolf arrived last Friday (November 18th. The band recorded the disc in Los Angeles, Brooklyn and Bogota, Colombia.
- It follows up Highly Suspect’s 2015 debut, Mister Asylum, which was nominated for Best Rock Album and Best Rock Song for the single “Lydia” at the 2016 Grammy Awards.
- “Lydia” and “Bloodfeather” were Top 10 hits at rock radio.
- The trio, who came together seven years ago in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, just finished a North American tour and will now start a U.K. trek this weekend
