Muse has revealed to fans that the band has been in the studio in London, where they’ve recorded three new songs. According to NME, photos uploaded to Instagram show a fan meeting frontman Matt Bellamy, bassist Chris Wolstenholme and drummer Dominic Howard outside of Air Studios, where the trio said that they had recorded three new songs — one that was “heavy” and two that were “not really” heavy.

Howard told us a while back what the band strives for every time they make a new record: [“You always want to kind of create better music and discover new musical ideas and feel like we’re moving forward and not backwards. We certainly don’t have any outside pressure from anyone else. I mean, if anything, it’s just an internal thing, just to feel like we’re discovering some new ideas.”]

  • The band has shared its own photos online from the studio in recent months, although it has not officially announced that it is working on its eighth album.
  • Muse returns to North America this spring and summer for a tour with Thirty Seconds To Mars and Prvis that kicks off on May 20th in West Palm Beach, Florida, with the last stop for now on September 20th in Salt Lake City. .
  • Muse is also rumored to be headlining Chicago’s Lollapalooza festival this August, although that has yet to be officially confirmed by the show’s organizers.
  • Muse’s last album, Drones, arrived in 2015 and debuted at Number One on the Billboard 200 album chart. It spawned the rock radio hits “Dead Inside,” “Mercy” and “Reapers.”
