The new Twenty One Pilots album, Trench, debuted at Number Two on the Billboard 200 album chart on Sunday night, moving 175,000 units in its first week of release. While that was good enough to make it the duo’s single biggest sales week ever, it couldn’t get Trench past the soundtrack of the new Lady Gaga-Bradley Cooper film A Star Is Born, which sold 231,000 copies to enter the chart in the top position. Twenty One Pilots’ previous effort, 2015’s Blurryface, debuted at Number One on the Billboard survey with sales of 147,000 units. Some 134,000 of those were physical sales, with Trench moving a nearly identical 135,000 physical copies. The rest of the sales came from digital and streaming equivalents. Trench also logged the second-biggest week for an alternative album in 2018, following Panic! At The Disco’s Pray For The Wicked, which sold a combined total of 179,000 physical and digital copies when it came in late June.
