A new Papa Roach song called “Born For Greatness” has been selected as the theme for an upcoming World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) special called Payback. The track is taken from Papa Roach’s upcoming ninth studio album, Crooked Teeth, which hits stores on May 19th. Payback will air on the WWE Network on Sunday, April 30th.
The new album follows up 2015’s F.E.A.R. and comes after a somewhat longer break than usual for the hard-working band. Drummer Tony Palermo told us that taking Papa Roach off the board for a minute was a good idea: [“I believe we absolutely needed the break and, you know, people probably feel the same. They were coming up to us, ‘Hey, we saw you 12 times this year,’ and we’re like, ‘We should probably just, you know, go get some rest!’ You know, our whole theory is to come back and hopefully up the profile, and this record is the perfect solution to that.”]
- This isn’t the first time Papa Roach has worked with WWE. The band provided the theme song for its weekly TV show Raw for a three-year period.
- Papa Roach has already released several songs from the new album, including the title track, “Periscope” and “Help,” which recently hit Number One on the rock radio chart.
- The group is set to play at several major rock festivals in late April and May, including Fort Rock and Welcome To Rockville in Florida, Carolina Rebellion in North Carolina and Northern Invasion in Wisconsin.
