THIRD EYE BLIND TROLLS RNC CONVENTION: In 2012, Third Eye Blind was asked to play the Republican National Convention, and he responded with an editorial in the Huffington Post, which reads in part: “Though I am happy to play for Republican fans, like my life-long Republican mom, playing the RNC convention is a tacit endorsement of the Republican presidential candidate and his party platform, and this is not my mom’s Republican Party anymore. …. If I came to their convention, I would Occupy their convention.” That’s just what he did on Tuesday, at a charity event expected to play pro-America anthems for the RNC-friendly crowd, but instead, the band decided to speak out against intolerance. (The crowd wasn’t happy). The one song, “Jumper,” they played they introduced, saying: “To love this song is to take into your heart the message and to actually, actually have a feeling to arrive and move forward and not live in fear and imposing that fear onto other people.”
