• This Friday (April 8th) will see the release of the latest entry in Fret12‘s The Sound And The Story series of instructional guitar DVDs, this time again focusing on Slipknot‘s guitarist Jim Root. The disc will go behind the scenes of the band’s latest album, .5: The Gray Chapter, while showing viewers how to play Root’s parts on each song from it. Backstage footage and more is also included.   • Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney threw the ceremonial first pitch at the Cleveland Indians’ opening game of the 2016 season on Monday (April 4th). Carney, an Ohio native, told theAkron Beacon Journal, “I was nervous. I have been practicing, though. I dislocated and broke my shoulder last year and we had to cancel some tours. The first time after that that I threw a baseball was last summer on tour.” He added, “I am just happy that I kept the ball in the air. It wasn’t over the plate, but it was in the air. It didn’t bounce . . . Sandy Alomar told me just not to get the ball into the dirt.” (NME)
  • AC/DC singer Brian Johnson contributes vocals to two tracks on Songs From The Garage, the debut music album from comedian Jim Breuer. Johnson, a friend of Breuer’s, appears on the tracks “My Rock ‘N’ Roll Dream” and “Mr. Rock ‘N’ Roll.” Due out on May 27th, the CD was produced by Volbeat guitarist Rob Caggiano. (Blabbermouth)
