- Blink-182 stepped in to save the day on Monday (July 11th) for The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, when they showed up as a last minute musical guest after the Hollywood Vampires had to bow out due to guitarist Joe Perry‘s recent collapse at a show. Blink performed “Bored To Death,” the chart-topping single from their new Number One album, California. This was the second time Blink subbed for an ailing colleague: they played a music festival in southern California earlier this year when Anthony Kiedis‘s sudden illness forced Red Hot Chili Peppers to bow out of their headlining slot. - Papa Roach will perform at a celebrity charity event, Rock For Freedom, on July 28th at Lucky Strike Live in Hollywood, California. The mix of live music, auction and celebrity bowling will raise money to combat human trafficking, aid victims with housing, medical assistance, legal aid and job placement, and to build and set up monitoring stations on the borders between countries that are known for human trafficking.
- A new video has surfaced that is a parody commercial for an album called Meow That’s What I Call Metal!, a fictional compilation of cats covering Metallica’s most well-known songs. Among the tracks on Meowtallica, as it’s known for short, are “Meowmeow Meome (Meowmeowmeowium),” “Don’t Meow On Me” and “Meow To Black.” The fake TV infomercial is online now. (Billboard)
