• Soundgarden and Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron will be sitting in on drums for Late Night With Seth Meyers during the week of March 14th. Cameron and Soundgarden have been in the studio recently to work on their seventh album, but he’ll take a break from that and switch gears for a Pearl Jam tour that begins on April 8th.   • Slash and former Black Sabbath and Dio drummer Vinny Appice are among the musicians who took part in the “Rock For Recovery” benefit concert on February 26th at Paladino’s in Tarzana, California. Former Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler was also supposed to perform at the event but did not appear. Video footage of Slash and Appice playing a cover version of the Dio classic “Rainbow In The Dark” at the concert is now online. (Blabbermouth)
  • Panic! At The Disco frontman Brendon Urie answers students’ questions in a new episode of the APTV Musician’s Institute Conversations series, produced by Alternative Press. In the discussion, he talks about growing up with ADHD, and how the disorder has benefited his music career. Later, someone asks him to sing the highest note he can possibly hit, and he also describes his weirdest experience with a fan, which involved a doll made of human hair. (Alt-Press.com)
  • Tommy Black, bassist for the late Scott Weiland‘s now defunct band The Wildabouts, has shared a photo on Instagram remembering Weiland. Black wrote, “Pre show tea . . . Honey, Throatcoat, apple cider vinegar, lemon, Cayenne. We all miss him 🙁 photo Jamie Weiland.” Black also performed “Vasoline” with Billy Morrison on January 9th at the Viper Room in Hollywood, with video footage uncovered this week. Black was briefly arrested for drug possession on the night of Weiland’s death last December but later released. (Alternative Nation)
