Slipknot has rescheduled the first two weeks of its North American tour with Marilyn Manson, which it had to postpone after Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor underwent what he described as “an unplanned spinal surgery.” The trek, which also includes Of Mice & Men in the opening slot, was supposed to kick off on June 9th in Salt Lake City but will now begin on June 28th in Nashville.

Taylor offered more details about his injury over the weekend, posting on Twitter that he “basically broke (his) neck a while back and didn’t realize it.” He added that he had to have a disc replaced and needed some additional work on his vertebrae. Taylor also told fans who suggested that he was having more serious health problems to “calm down,” saying, “Enough with the conspiracy theories . . . I had emergency surgery because s**t came up during my physical.”

  • Taylor told us a while back that it would take something serious for Slipknot to cancel a tour: [“You know, we take very great pride in the fact that we’ve only left a tour a couple of times, you know, and they were for very, very serious reasons. It’s just what we do, you know. I mean, we don’t know how to quit. We just don’t know how to stop, it’s insane.”] SOUNDCUE (:13 OC: . . . stop, it’s insane.)
  • The summer trek is likely to be Slipknot’s last in support of its latest album, .5: The Gray Chapter, which was released in October 2014.
  • Following the tour, Slipknot and Black Sabbath will co-headline the combined Ozzfest Meets Knotfest, a two-day festival scheduled for September 24th and 25th in San Bernardino, California.
  • Newly rescheduled Slipknot tour dates (subject to change):
August 7 – Denver, CO – Pepsi Center (previously June 21 at Red Rocks)
August 9 – Salt Lake City, UT – USANA Amphitheatre (previously June 9)
August 11 – Auburn, WA – White River Amphitheatre (previously June 11)
