Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan revealed in a new interview with Rolling Stone that he almost joined the band that ended up becoming Rage Against The Machine in the early ’90s. Keenan explained that following the break-up of guitarist Tom Morello’s pre-Rage band Lock-Up, he began jamming with Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk. But Keenan was looking to take things in a more humorous, theatrical direction and they were looking for a more serious approach. Strangely enough, Keenan was approached by the Rage guys again, years later, after their post-Rage band Audioslave fell apart.
