X Ambassadors are giving back to their hometown of Ithaca, New York by launching the inaugural Cayuga Sound Festival, which will bring national acts to the upstate New York city and also benefit local non-profit organizations. The event will take place on September 22nd and 23rd in Ithaca’s Stewart Park, with X Ambassadors and The Roots serving as headliners. Part of the proceeds will go to Friends of Stewart Park, the Ithaca Youth Bureau, Planned Parenthood Ithaca, Community School of Music & Arts and more to be announced.
The band wrote in an Instagram announcing the event, “When we were kids growing up in Ithaca, it was always so exciting to hear when musicians we loved were coming to tour through our town. It always felt so special — like they’d decided to come play just for us. We’re bringing that noise back to where it all started.”.
- Performances will take place on two stages in Stewart Park, with after parties and other events happening throughout the city all weekend.
- Frontman Sam Harris told us a while back that the band as a whole doesn’t spend much time in its hometown these days: [“Now we’re at a point with the band that we’re so busy and touring constantly that when we have any time off, we all just kind of like go all over the place. You know, like sometimes, Noah (Feldshuh, guitar) and Casey (Harris, keyboards) will go to Ithaca, Adam (Levin, drums) will go back to L.A. to visit the family, or I’ll go to L.A. to do some writing work or be with my family or I’ll be in New York. You know, it’s like, we all go all over the place, our separate ways.”]
- X Ambassadors’ major label debut, VHS, was certified gold last summer for sales of more than half a million copies. The set features the Number One modern rock radio track “Renegades” and the Top 20 single “Unsteady.”
- The band is currently off the road but will begin a series of late spring/early summer tour dates on May 6th with an appearance at the Beale Street Music Festivalin Memphis.
