Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins and his side band The Coattail Riders have shared the title track from their upcoming album, Get The Money. The song features Taylor on vocals, accompanied by Chrissie Hynde from the Pretenders, Joe Walsh on lead guitar, and Guns N’ Roses‘ Duff McKagan on bass.
Following in the tradition of previous Coattail Riders projects, the album also features appearances from Foo Fighters members Dave Grohl and Pat Smear, Queen‘s Roger Taylor, Heart‘s Nancy Wilson, Perry Farrell, LeAnn Rimes and more. Get The Money is out November 8th.
Hawkins told us a while back that having some of his favorite musicians play on his band’s albums is a dream come true: [“Not only do you get to just, like, pinch yourself — ‘Wow, I’m in the room with this person’ — but you also get to kind of try and soak up a little bit of what they do musically, you know. Brian May plugs in his guitar and it’s just like, ‘Okay, well, there’s Brian May. No question who that is.’ It’s neat. It really is amazing, and you really get to be in the presence of greatness when you’re with people like that.”] SOUNDCUE (:19 OC: . . . people like that.)
In addition to now three albums with the Coattail Riders, Hawkins has also released one LP from a group called the Birds Of Satan and also issued a mini-LP in 2016 called KOTA on which he sang lead vocals and played nearly every instrument.
Foo Fighters themselves are reportedly in the early stages of work on a new album, the band’s 10th, although details remain scarce.
