Jack White will release a double vinyl LP titled Acoustic In Idaho and a DVD called Acoustic In Alaska as part of the latest package from his Third Man Records subscription series, The Vault. Both sets are taken from White’s five-date 2015 acoustic tour, on which he played the last five states in the Union he had yet to play, announcing the location of each show on the day it happened.Tickets were priced at three dollars, cash only, and sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
The set will come packaged in a silk-screened box, and will include a 52-page photography book, Pictures From Unknown States, by David James Swanson. The deadline to sign up for the Platinum Vault subscription is April 30th if you want to pre-order the set.
- Acoustic In Idaho was recorded on April 22nd of last year at the Egyptian Theater in Boise, Idaho and will be pressed on “icy Idaho Blue vinyl.” Acoustic In Alaska was filmed two days earlier, on April 20th, at the city’s Wendy Williamson Auditorium.
- Both feature a set list that includes solo material, White Stripes tunes, Raconteurs songs and cover versions.
- White has been on hiatus from live work since completing the acoustic tour, but has kept busy by recording an album with the Dead Weather, expanding the Third Man retail empire to Detroit and co-executive producing a PBS documentary on the early history of recorded American music that will air this fall.
